First Minister visiting manufacturing facility

Today marks a milestone moment for Kight Powerhubs, for Dumfries, and for the future of energy storage in the UK.

This morning, First Minister John Swinney visited the site of our new manufacturing facility in Dumfries, Scotland’s first home energy battery factory, an exciting landmark in our journey.

The Powerhub is the result of six years of research and development, built in close partnership with South of Scotland Enterprise and the region’s Registered Social Landlords. It uses a battery chemistry never previously deployed in a domestic setting, delivering zero fire risk, 100% usable capacity, a 25-year warranty and an AI control platform, EnergiFlow, that automatically minimises energy bills without any intervention from residents.

The results already speak for themselves. Pilot installations in social housing across the south of Scotland in 2025 have cut electricity bills by up to 85%. Tenants who previously couldn’t afford to turn the heating on are now energy-secure.

Scotland generates significantly more renewable electricity than it consumes. The Powerhub exists to ensure that surplus reaches the people who need it most — directly, simply and affordably.
Dumfries is where we will build that future.

Thank you to First Minister of Scotland John Swinney and the The Scottish Government, to Russel Griggs and the team at South of Scotland Enterprise, and to every tenant and social landlord who has been part of this journey from the beginning.

This is just the start.
